Saturday will be the start of a brand new year, and this Monday will be the start of a brand new ABC Music & Me session at the Community Arts Center in Danville!
Our theme for January is one that will be fun for parents and children alike - "Silly All Over!" This month's activities will foster the child's developing sense of humor. The fun stories, songs, and movement activities we'll have in class will be sure to tickle little funny-bones. :)

Let's Play!
We've been having so much fun at Kindermusik ABC Music & Me class! Today we introduced some new activities. We pretended to be toys - toy soldiers, balloons, jack-in-the-boxes, and teddy bears! The egg shakers, sandblocks, and colorful scarves were big hits today, too!
The "Let's Play" theme has one more week, then we'll be starting "Out & About" on Monday, August 9th! I would love to have you and your toddler/preschooler to join us!

ABC Music & Me!
Today was the first day of our ABC Music & Me Let's Play Class!! There were 7 children in class this morning between the ages of 1 and 4. I'd never taught the ABC curricula before in my program, but I thought it went very well.
Mom's and toddlers were waving, clapping, stomping, and singing from the very start! We took an imaginary trip to a playground, pretended to be choo-choo trains, and read a story about a playful teddy bear. All the while, the children were developing their motor skills, increasing their ability to focus, and learning to enjoy music!

Classes have begun at Community Arts Center in Danville!
Welcome to the official Kindermusik by Samantha Blog! I am new to blogging, but I'm excited about giving it a try! I will attempt to post here frequently, so visit me often.
Today was our first class at our new location - the Community Arts Center on Main Street in Danville, KY! I was pleased to "sing hello, hello" to 6 smiling toddlers in this morning's Our Time class. The theme for this semester is "Wiggles & Giggles" -- and we've already enjoyed lots of both!
We began class with the special "Our Time Hello" song and each child decided how he/she wanted to be greeted -- with a clap, jump, wave, bounce, or dance! While doing fun hand motions with some silly songs and poems, we were working on fine motor skills as well as building language skills. Today during "Exploration Time" we discovered many different ways to play our rhythm sticks...who knew that 6 toddlers could make SOO many different sounds with just two wooden sticks?? We pretended to be little fish and big fish swimming and singing in the sea! One of the favorite activities today was to chant "Wishy-washy, wishy-washy, wishy-washy, Weeeeee!" while rubbing our hands back and forth to the beat. To practice active listening, the children gathered around and guessed the sounds of bath water running and splashing in the tub. Then we made our own water splashing sounds! For storytime we read Pete & P.J. about a little boy and his dog taking a bath. We played peekaboo and danced around with colored sheer scarves...one of my personal favorite Kindermusik activities! Then after a fun class, we all needed some rest, so we rocked and swayed along with a beautiful acapella rendition of "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean." Class ended with our special "Goodbye Song."
This class will be going for 14 more weeks, and I am very excited to be a part of it!! There is still room for a few more toddlers to join us. Classes are held on Mondays @ 10:00 a.m. in Studio 4 which is located in the basement at CAC. For more info or to enroll, visit my website at www.kindermusikbysamantha.com.
